Parents as Teachers: A Strong Foundation for the Next Generation

Quotes From Our Families

“We are glad that our children in enrolled with this kind of program. The source of information that we can get from this program are very helpful. It change a lot the way we raise our child in a right path.”

“My name is Amethyst.  I am a first time mom to my now 11.5 months old daughter, Mila. I couldn’t be more happy I have been referred to the Parents As Teachers Program. Each month our Parent  Educator provided me with information and support which is so important to my daughter’s development.  This served as my guide on how to assist my baby and understand her better. This support is especially important during this pandemic when we as a society are more isolated than ever.  I looked forward to our monthly phone appointments.  Vanessa has helped me feel less isolated in that way and I cannot emphasize enough on how vital her services have been to me and my family. I shared all the information with my husband as well.

Thank you for your service and my hope is that your program will continue to assist and support future mothers/caregivers and their children.”

“I'd like to tell you how much I appreciate this program for some reasons. First of all, I didn't know how to take care of my baby at all when I gave birth to my first son. Then I met this program and our Parent Educator. Since then she has been giving me many necessary advises for my son's and also ideas of toys which are different every month.

Moreover, I like to see her constantly every month to show the development of my sons and chat with her. Especially now, although I can't see her in person, the time she makes for me once a month on the phone is such a precious and exciting time.

Finally, checking my son's development through the paper "Nipissing District Developmental Screen" with her makes my motivation for raising my children stronger. For my older son, I was always nervous to fill the checklist with her because his language development was slow compared to the average. But she always gives me encouragement on how I can support my son, and now my son who is about 4 years old is almost talkative. Vanessa was also very happy about it. I really hope this program can continue and help other families as well.”
