Parents as Teachers: Enabling Programs to Support Parents

“Vancouver Coastal Health has been providing core operational funding for the Parents to Teachers program since 2000 through our SMART health promotion grants. We are proud to support this program, which provides opportunities for parents to form peer support networks, which are important to build social connections and encourage healthy childhood development.

Over our 20-year relationship, we have seen the Parents As Teachers program grow and evolve, always with the goal of best meeting the needs of their participants. The Buddy Groups in particular have been helpful for parents to stay connected with one another through the COVID-19 pandemic so far. We look forward to seeing this program continue its vital work from Mid-Main Community Health Centre’s new space.”
